Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 CLOSURE due to COVID-19 Update #5

April 3, 2020

To: Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 Students, Parents and Community Members

Re: Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 CLOSURE due to COVID-19 Update #5

Dear Students, Staff and Community Members,

I just wanted to extend another “thank you” to our staff, students, parents and community members; we appreciate the patience and flexibility you have displayed during our school closures. We realize the frustrations and complexities that this closure has brought us all; however, we continue to listen, adapt and ultimately provide the best services we possibly can during this emergency. Please see the contact information below should you have and questions or concerns. Thank you…

In our best effort to keep our school community informed, I wanted to put out some new information as we approach the end of the week and ultimately, the weekend…

  • Montana Governor Steve Bullock ordered a “stay at home” or “shelter-in-place” directive effective 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020. We at Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 encourage you to take the directive seriously and follow the guideline as established by his proclamation that we will post here shortly! You will notice new signs throughout the District encouraging all staff, students, parents and community members to follow the directives of the CDC, federal and state agencies…as well as Big Horn County. PLEASE consider the safety and well-being of all individuals!
  • Governor Bullock has also APPROVED the Districts’ educational plans for the remainder of the school year, should he continue to mandate school building closures. I do expect the Governor to extend the closure date perhaps another couple weeks…taking us nearly to the end of April. If this is the case, we will continue to do our best to meet our educational plan goals and serve the students and families of Hardin School Districts 17H & 1.
  • School nutrition will continue to serve meals daily Monday through Friday on originally planned school days (we will NOT be serving meals Friday, April 10 or Monday, April 13, 2020 due to Easter weekend). Please remember that any individuals eighteen (18) and younger are eligible for the service and NEED NOT BE PRESENT in order to pick up lunches/breakfasts. Thank you!
  • ***ON A SPECIAL NOTE – THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS THAT HAVE MADE OUR SCHOOL NUTRITION SERVICES SO AMAZING! THE INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE COME IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS HAVE GONE “ABOVE AND BEYOND” ANY EXPECTATIONS ARE SIMPLY AMAZING! THESE INCREDIBLE PEOPLE PUSH OUT OVER 2000 MEALS PER DAY…YOU ARE THE BEST!!
  • Should you have any health related questions that may pertain to the school and your students; we have created a “School Nurse Contact Form” found on our school website at http://www.hardin.k12.mt.us.
  • We have created two avenues to contact the school if you should have questions, concerns or comments. We can be reached through a central contact phone number at 406-665-9312 Monday – Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. We can be reached by email at help@hardin.k12.mt.us. The purpose of these contacts are to streamline our concerns and comments to look for trends or situations that may need to be addressed at the district/school level.

Respectfully,

Eldon C. Johnson, Supt

  • School nutrition will continue to serve meals daily Monday through Friday on originally planned school days as outlined in the new flyer being published today…adding a Muddy Cluster stop starting this coming Monday, March 20, 2020. We will monitor the usage of the program today, as well as adapt as we get a better idea of our needs across the service area. Please remember that any individuals eighteen (18) and younger are eligible for the service and NEED NOT BE PRESENT in order to pick up lunches/breakfasts. Thank you!

  • Please see our “Student-Parent Letter on Educational Services” that will also be published shortly for updates on how these services will be provided.
