Dear Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 Students, Staff, Families and Community,

As you are all aware, Governor Gianforte lifted the statewide mask mandate effective last Friday, February 12, 2021. This of course has put the authority back in the hands of the local county health department and school districts in maintaining safe COVID procedures in and around our communities.

The Big Horn County Board of Commissioners also announced last Friday that the Public Health Order 2021-1 will remain in effect... including the mask mandate. Hardin School Districts fully supports that decision and will continue with our current mask mandates, which were approved before the order was put in place by Governor Bullock last August. We want to continue to protect our students, staff and families throughout Big Horn County... we feel strongly that our schools have been extremely successful in this attempt to lessen the effect of COIVD-19 in the educational setting. However, we could not have done this without the support of Big Horn County, Big Horn County Health and you...our students, staff and community members. Thank you!

The state of Montana and Big Horn County, as well as Hardin School Districts 17H & 1, have worked diligently in our efforts to reduce the number of COVID cases throughout our county. Let us continue to support one another so we can keep our students and families safe! Please continue to wash your hands, practice social distancing and mask up... all the students and staff at Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 APPRECIATE you for your support!

Respectfully,

Eldon C. Johnson, Supt Hardin School Districts 17H & 1
