As we get ready to start the 2024-25 academic year we are releasing the finalized Hardin Schools Portrait of a Graduate to our students, parents and the community.
This document was developed over several months last spring by a diverse group of stakeholders from our community. The process was facilitated by Battlle for Kids, a national leader in this work, and was generously funded by a grant from our partners at the Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Council. Thank you to both of these partners in this process as well as to the local Portrait Design Team for helping lead our district in identifying the hopes, dreams, and aspirations our community has for our young people.
We now have a collective vision that articulates our community’s aspirations for every student. Our agreed upon competencies are: Adaptability, Critical Thinking, Effective Communication, Empathy, Integrity and Perseverance. We will integrate developing these traits into our daily work as we prepare our students physically, intellectually, emotionally and with a cultural sense of belonging in order for them to thrive in our ever changing world.
We chose to create a version which incorporates the Apsáalooke word for each of our core competencies as a way to respect the cultural background for the majority of our students and the history of where we live and work. Hopefully this will also help create that sense of belonging we are working towards for many students.
Hardin Public Schools aspires to lead the way in preparing students to become lifelong learners and contributors in our complex, rapidly changing world. Now that we have developed a Portrait of a Graduate, the exciting work of implementing this new vision begins! The school board, our administrative team, our staff, and partners in our community will continue to turn our Portrait into a reality for every student.
