Today marked a historic and educational milestone for Hardin Academy students as they participated in their first bison harvest in Crow Agency, Montana. This hands-on experience provided a unique opportunity to connect with the rich cultural heritage of the Crow Tribe while gaining practical knowledge about traditional and modern uses of the bison.
The event was guided by Leroy Stewart, Bison Management Director, and Duke Goes Ahead, Natural Resources Director, alongside experts from the Crow Tribal Fish and Game Department. Their invaluable expertise allowed students to not only harvest the bison but also understand its profound significance to our ancestors and its continued importance today.
This initiative, hosted collaboratively by Hardin Indian Education for All, the Hardin Farm to School Department, and the Crow Tribe, underscores the power of partnership in bringing cultural education to life. It exemplifies how we can honor traditions while creating meaningful learning experiences for our youth.
